How trash cans in New York turn into giant flower vases

New York floral designer Lewis Miller considers it his duty to evoke positive emotions among residents of a gloomy metropolis. And his main tool in achieving this goal are, of course, flowers.

Over the past couple of months, mysterious floral arrangements have appeared in Manhattan several times. The main locations of this "partisan campaign" are sidewalks, garbage cans, statues and public squares. “Giving flowers to New Yorkers is a simple idea that I’ve been thinking about for many years,” Lewis says. “I hoped for smiles. Those that happen when you witness a random act of kindness. That was my goal, my vision. Create emotional response with colors. "

“Our creations for trash cans are more unusual and ephemeral,” says Lewis. Bouquets also vary in scale. The largest of them consist of thousands of flowers, such as roses, dahlias, orchids. If they were made for a customer at Miller, some of them would have exceeded $ 10,000.

“We try to use flowers from past events when we can. In doing so, we give flowers a second life,” says the florist.
