21st Century People: The photographer spent 20 years filming what people around the world wear

Hans Eikelbum is a photographer who has been exploring the main shopping streets of the planet for almost a quarter century to capture style diversity as a sign of global capitalism.

A series of Eikelboom photo projects in the mid-70s anticipated the two defining features of street photography that this legendary photographer is best known for - his passion for shooting series (the crucial issue of demonstrating the form) and exceptional attention to the dress code (visual manifestation of the content).

Eikelboom, who was born at the end of the 40s of the last century, difficult for the world, is considered one of the founders of the conceptual photography genre in Europe.

Despite the fact that in the photographer’s works there is an element of distance that relates his work to the anthropological direction, he is a humanist at heart.

In one of his most interesting photo projects, the Dutchman presents to our attention the "people of the 21st century" in cold-blooded series of shots. To realize this fascinating idea, Eikelbum traveled the most famous shopping promenades in the world, trying to capture how our contemporaries look and wear.
