Black and white photos about life in post-Soviet Romania in the 90s

Socialist Romania was no different from other Soviet republics in its frantic desire to replay the West in industry. To this end, the country's government began to actively relocate villagers to the capital in order to increase the number of workers employed in factories.

Peasants came to Bucharest and brought with them part of their usual life: traditional life, customs, and even cattle had to be mastered on the busy streets of the capital. Photographer Vali Pana made an amazing collection of photographs about what life in the Romanian capital turned into at the junction of two completely different cultures, which continued to coexist in the 90s, after the collapse of the USSR.
