Muscovites stood on the board

On September 2, the “SUP regatta of Moscow”, dedicated to the year of ecology in Russia, was held for the first time on the Kosmodamianskaya Embankment - Red October route. The event is unique, important and useful, because its goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle and, in fact, an environmentally friendly and very interesting sport - surfing with a paddle (SUP), which has already managed to gain immense popularity all over the world. TravelAsk talked with the organizer of the first in Moscow "SUP regatta of Moscow" Ilya Vinokurov and found out why it is so cool to engage in this particular sport.

- Ilya, tell us about the idea of the event as a whole, what is its meaning? What are his prospects for the future? How did you even think of such an idea?

- The idea is not new, the event is dedicated to the year of ecology. I love my city and believe that the more people will be involved in its life, will perceive it as their home, as their homeland, the more care they will take to what surrounds them. Perhaps, having walked along the river with an oar, a person will think a hundred times next time before pouring something there. Many times I have observed similar processes with surfers who love the ocean, and with snowboarders who respect and love the mountains. In addition, as a person who does not use alcohol or drugs, I am always happy to bring people together in sports, for example.

- Why exactly SUP? The sport is unusual enough for Muscovites, do you think it will take root?

- SUP (STAND UP PADDLEBOARD) is, by the way, an affordable and very simple view. Many in our regatta were with children. It is very cool. A man puts a child and rowing with everyone. We have a bunch of beautiful places in the suburbs and Moscow. Why not take a paddle board, friends and walk along the river for 10 kilometers! I think it will take root. This is a beautiful, clean sport that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

- This time the regatta passed along the route "Kosmodamianskaya Embankment - Red October". What other routes were considered, or what else would you like to learn in Moscow?

- Of course, I would like to go under the Kremlin walls, but unfortunately, we were refused. In fact, in the place of the Moscow authorities, I would do the same. But I do not lose hope that we will pass there too. It will be very cool!

- You say that SUP is great for urban ponds, but are there already schools or centers in Moscow where you can learn to stand on a blackboard?

- A bunch of them. In fact, they are almost everywhere where there is a sail or a board, in wake and sailing schools.

- What were the main difficulties encountered in organizing the event?

- Well, this is not a very difficult project, the Moscow authorities helped us, N.A. went to the meeting Gulyaev, head of the Moskomsport, A.O. Kulbachevsky, Head of the Department of Environmental Management. We all quickly agreed and helped.

- Are you satisfied with the first "SUP-regatta of Moscow"? In your opinion, how much will the second be different from the first?

- I am very satisfied. It was cool, I went through myself and my friends joined me. It turned out a lot of fun and bright. Next year, everything will be much larger and cooler.

- What can we expect from the second regatta next year?

- But this is a secret))))
