Colombia: colorful Cartagena

Finally, I got to the city of Cartagena. Crossed the country from south to north. I talked with a variety of people. And tired, and rested, and managed to miss the cold climate. But the Caribbean coast was not happy with coolness. Here it was sultry, as in the oven with apple charlotte.

In Cartagena, Caribbean Negro mixes with Spanish and Native American cultures; there are more blacks in the north than in other regions of Colombia.

Such a crossroads of cultures is reflected in the dishes of local cuisine, music, the mentality of the inhabitants. People are relaxed, distrustful of strangers, eat seafood and grilled meat after sunset, speak with a special accent, listen to reggae, bossa nova and latina.

In the colonial city center, neat and colorful, with two-story houses ...

... with balconies and greenery twisting along the walls, it’s very pleasant to get lost for an hour or two, to look at passers-by and cabs ...

... show off at the neat facades, walk along the pavement, stop at the window, hearing a cheerful song by Spanish pipes ...

... look into the eyes of Miles Davis and, finally, tired of the heat, go to a restaurant where the barista will bring you the best Colombian coffee and even hold a special coffee ceremony.

And in the evening at sunset, you should go to the embankment, climb the fort wall ...

... walking around it carefree, as in childhood ...

... and spend the sun sitting by the old cannons opposite the modern business center.

Cartagena should be synonymous with the word charm. It is an atmospheric city with its own character and soul, which is impossible not to fall in love with.
