7 scary photos about what climate change has done to glaciers over 100 years

In the early 1900s, Arctic glaciers were the most mysterious and unexplored natural wonders. After more than 100 years of study and discovery, these ice giants have become intrusive evidence of the terrible effects of climate change.

The Swedish photojournalist Christian Oslund, working with Greenpeace, has collected some early photographs of the Svalbard glaciers in Norway, taken by the Norwegian Polar Institute, and compared them with hand-made photographs in the same places in 2002. The differences are so incredible! He is now using this series of photographs in National Geographic campaigns, encouraging a discussion on climate change and protesting against drilling by Norwegian oil companies.

How awesome the differences are in these photos, judge for yourself!
