10 amazing photos of a Polish village where everything is painted with flowers

Once, in a small Polish village called Zalipie, someone painted a flower on the ceiling to hide traces of soot from the stove. Ventilation was not very good then, and soot stains were considered commonplace in almost all homes. Gradually, other people also began to hide soot traces with the help of flowers. In the end, each house was covered with floral patterns.

Over time, everything in the town was covered with flowers - from houses and barns to bridges and churches. And every spring since 1948 a competition of painted houses was held here. The initial goal of this competition was to help the Polish people recover psychologically from the atrocities that they experienced during the Second World War. Today Zalipye is far from those dark times. Located in southeastern Poland, just 1.5 hours from Krakow, this beautiful, vibrant and colorful village is the perfect place for anyone who wants to visit a unique and authentic place.
