The big panda is no longer an endangered species!

The good news came to us the other day from abroad. The big panda - an animal that was on the verge of extinction and for the safety of which experts have been fighting for more than a dozen years - is no longer considered an endangered species. This was announced by experts from the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

While in 2003 there were about 1,600 pandas in the wild, by 2014 their population had grown by as much as 17%. It’s difficult to estimate the exact number of cubs of the big panda at the moment, the latest statistics show that the total number of all individuals in these animals is 2060.

"Improving this status confirms that the efforts of the Chinese government to conserve this species are effective," the report said. And yet, according to experts, in the next 80 years the number of big pandas will again be reduced by more than one third. The main reason is called global climate and environmental change.
