Scandal in Thailand: a terrible find in the freezers of a Buddhist monastery

Not so long ago, global social networks literally exploded after publishing photos of a terrifying find discovered in the freezers of one of the Buddhist monasteries in Thailand. In the so-called Tigrin Monastery, the remains of forty tiger cubs were found. In addition to them, according to the representative of the Wildlife Friends Foundation Tom Taylor, parts of bodies and other animals were stored in refrigeration units. Information and heartbreaking images caused a major scandal.

The head of Thailand's national parks, Mr. Nichdamrong, says they have so far failed to figure out why the monks kept the tiger cubs in the freezer. We also note that Buddhist hermits have been repeatedly accused of cruelty to wildlife and animal trafficking.

The forest monastery was built in 1994 and was supposed to be a haven for wildlife. Now 137 tigers live here, which the police have already begun to take out from the monastery. The shelter administration explains the freezing of the remains of tiger cubs as a necessary measure to provide evidence refuting allegations of tiger trafficking.

The Tiger Monastery, by the way, is a very popular place among tourists, and a visit here is quite expensive. Visitors can feed the predators and take pictures with them. According to unofficial data, the monastery annually earns $ 3 million on this.

To date, there is no exact information about what happened. The Thai government took up investigations, and the monastery was closed to visitors for an indefinite period.
