Italian bars start using pasta instead of plastic straws

Do you know what ballet, jeans and glasses have in common? All this was invented in Italy. Now, another Italian notion breaks the applause around the world and could be the solution to a serious environmental problem. Today, when scientists are puzzling over ways to reduce the amount of plastic waste, pasta in the form of long tubes seems to be just a brilliant idea.

Recently, one of the users of the portal Reddit shared photos showing the innovative initiative of some bars in Italy. This post has collected an insane amount of likes and posts, finding phenomenal support in the community. Of course, pasta straws in plastic cups look completely ridiculous. Italian establishments should definitely work on serving, but the feasibility of such beverage tubes does not get any smaller.

As it turned out, there already exists a company producing such pasta for drinks. It is called Stroodles, and its representatives claim that the straws can withstand up to an hour of active use, have no taste and can be thrown into compost after use. Such an alternative to plastic tubes can not but delight. It remains only to see how it can be developed and implemented, as well as how well it will take root in the restaurant business.
