Autumn events in Finland

In September 2019, Finland invites everyone to evaluate the latest design in Helsinki, listen to the works of Jan Sibelius in the Lake District, admire the light installations in the central part of the country, and also take a sea taxi.

Design Week

From September 5 to 15, the annual Design Week will be held in Helsinki, which will acquaint the public with innovations in various fields, including architecture, fashion, urban beautification and culture - more than 250 events are held as part of the festival! Since its foundation in 2005, the Helsinki Design Week has been the largest exhibition in the Nordic countries, allowing amateurs and professionals to learn all about the latest design innovations and related industries. Within the framework of the week, various workshops, environmental forums, an interactive event on the theme of “design and diplomacy” will be held, in which 13 EU embassies, an interior exhibition and a design market will participate, where you can watch and even purchase prototypes of objects of subject design. The main theme of 2019 is the younger generation: Chidren's Design Week will be held specifically for children and adolescents on September 14 and 15, during which young designers will be able to attend many educational events, learn how to use recycled things to create new ones, try their hand at coloring and even weave wall carpet.

Jan Sibelius Festival

From September 4 to 8, lovers of classical music will gather for the 20th time at the festival of the famous Finnish composer Jan Sibelius, which will be held in Lahti and the coastal town of Loviisa, which is located 90 km from the Finnish capital. Sibelius's symphonies and sagas will be performed by the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Dmitry Slobodenyuk, as well as the Stockholm Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to the works of Sibelius, the festival will also feature the Golden Cockerel by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Claude Debussy's sonata, Gustav Mahler's piano quartet and much more. Sea taxi

In the Finnish capital of Helsinki and the nearby town of Espoo, the new Bout application will soon be launched, a platform that instantly connects captains of small sea vessels and passengers, assumes legal travel support and processes payments - in fact this is a standard taxi application, but designed for shipping in the capital region of Finland. Bout was tested throughout 2018, and finally, in early September 2019, the application will be available to the general public through the Android and iOS operating systems.

Let there be light!

Few people know that the city of Jyväskylä in central Finland is a city of light. Not solar, but artificial! Jyväskylä is a leading world player in the field of lighting and lighting installations, so every year the city "Festival of Light" takes place here, where everyone can see with their own eyes the play of colors on old buildings, bridges and special venues. In addition, visitors will be introduced to the latest technologies in this area, will give lectures on energy efficiency and talk about the future, in which there will be a lot of light.
