Touching photos that show the relationship of orphaned elephants and their caretakers

Every year, thousands of animals die at the hands of poachers. Tigers, rhinos, elephants - they are killed for profit, they are calculated for weapons, ammunition or even turned into home decor. So, the tusks of elephants and horn of rhinos are often cut off, and then the animals are left to die from blood loss. And this cruelty seems even more monstrous when these creatures remain cubs: small, they simply are not able to survive in the wild alone.

It is these animals that the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya deals with. Orphaned elephants who have lost their parents fall to them. Here the young are fed milk, look after them and prepare to go into the wild. When they grow up and are able to survive on their own, they are again released into the wild. This foundation is one of the most successful in the world, where they help kids who are left alone. However, they not only care for elephants, they do something more: they fight poachers, advocate for the conservation of wildlife and raise awareness about the problem of extermination of animals.

The work in the fund is very responsible, but at the same time incredibly sincere. The caretakers of the shelter have an amazing connection with their wards. They make up for the lost chain and become parents of orphaned elephants, feed them milk, train and take the position of a mentor. In their turn, elephants fully accept their help and care. For animals left without parents, physical contact is very important, therefore elephants constantly touch each other and their caretakers. They are in the shelter for a very long time until they grow up: elephants can "fly out of the nest" only closer to ten years. And all this time the parents are replaced by a person. It is amazing how kind and cruel a person can be: these animals have suffered at the hands of a person, and people, too, help them to their feet.
