Incredible photos of the Krubera cave in the Caucasus, which is amazing in its depth

The Caucasus, especially the western part, is famous for its stunning karst caves, among which you can find objects of outstanding depth and beauty. Krubera Cave, located on the territory of Abkhazia, today is the second deepest among all the caves in the world, slightly inferior to its neighbor - the Abkhaz cave Verevkina, but inside it is simply magnificent.

Krubera Cave, or Voronya Cave, is located on the territory of the Gagra Range in northwestern Abkhazia. The entrance to this karst cave is located at an altitude of more than 2000 meters. The structure of the cave includes several vertical wells, which branch at a depth and form several separate vertical tunnels. These wells are interconnected by passages, have different depths and are incredibly beautiful.

Starting from a depth of 1400 meters in the cave there are several siphons - underwater tunnels filled with water.

This stunning cave was discovered in 1960 by a speleological expedition organized by the Academy of Sciences of the Georgian SSR. Then it was explored to a depth of 95 meters, and 8 years later, Krasnoyarsk cavers descended to a depth of 210 meters. Then followed a series of expeditions by Kiev cavers, who in several approaches reached the mark of 1410 meters.

After it became clear that Krubera Cave is outstanding in its characteristics, researchers were interested in it not only from the vastness of the CIS, but also foreign cavers. At the moment, after exploring several side passages and underwater tunnels, the depth of the Krubera cave has stopped at 2 199 meters, but it is possible that this figure may increase.
