How to relax unmistakably in Cyprus

Coldly? Now I will give you a little warmth. And I'm not talking about summer holidays in Cyprus, but about the story that you are about to read.

What can I say, I don’t know how to go on a trip to the sea, like "all normal people"! But everything seemed to be calculated. But look what my so-called vacation turned into.

I did not live to buy fully package tours with a flight, but I bought tickets on a travel agency website: in resort places this can be more beneficial than directly, since the travel agency immediately buys a lot of places and gives its price. As a result, booked two hotels in the resort town of Protaras in eastern Cyprus.

That's how I imagined the rest. That I will spend days lying on the beach, reading a book (certainly paper) and not going to the Internet. Yeah of course. I had to write dozens of posts from a trip to America that had just ended. So without work, even on vacation, nowhere.

The next important point is to decide if a transfer is needed. I refused, although if you go only to a hotel and nowhere else, it will be more profitable: a taxi from Larnaca airport costs about 50 euros, a group transfer from a travel agency will be much cheaper, but I still ride around the island.

The car cost more than two hundred (yes, this little one), but in the end it paid off, in addition, we drove all over Cyprus. Out of season, all prices must be divided into two, or even three.

The first hotel was called Captain Pier. The main advantage is that it is completely new: it opened after a complete reconstruction in 2017.

As you can see from things on the balconies, there are no free rooms at all. And so it happened, the hotel is jam-packed.

Its territory is small, it is understood that people come here not to sit in the hotel, but to spend time on the beach. So even the pool had no problems with sunbeds.

It was crowded only in the restaurant, where all the guests came three times a day to eat, and then also where they went. Moreover, the "all inclusive" system in the usual sense (when "finally everything") does not exist in Cyprus, but full board is a pleasant thing. But you will have to pay for drinks (alcohol and coffee always, at dinner - even for water).

The food at the Captain was delicious, especially the desserts and meat. I could not control myself and recovered for a couple of kilograms on Cypriot cakes, then again I had to run and drive fat.

The hotel is good, despite the fact that the building is not on the first line, it is close to the sea. The only serious drawback of Captain Pier is the unfinished villas in the neighborhood, someone may have a direct view of them. The construction was stopped, either in order not to interfere with holidaymakers in the season, or simply went broke.

If ever completed, they will look something like this.

By the way, I also thought of renting a villa, but again, if you are going to such places in the high season, you need to book at least three to four months in advance, and not ten days in advance! But I did not know this, I can catch cheap tickets to any assholes in the world, and buying a beach tour is more difficult for me.

Another thing is Vrissaki beach in the same Protaras, but in the neighboring bay. Perhaps this is the best that is in Cyprus, I will say for sure that it was not in vain that everyone praised it. And for this very reason everything was booked there months in advance, I was able to “snatch” only four nights, but they were worth it!

Moreover, “Vrissaki” is not so hot that pathos, but very high quality. The location, of course, decides: he is on the first line, and everyone else is breathing in the back. On the fourth floor, almost all rooms have awesome terraces with an area of almost more than the room itself.

What I liked about all the Cypriot hotels was the lack of extra decorative elements of the "expensive and rich" type: white walls, light furniture. Everything is simple, but of high quality. As soon as in inexpensive hotels they begin to flirt with stucco molding, the fake and collective farm immediately come out.

"Oh, and what, is there a sea here?" The view from the window is the same that you imagine when you think about a vacation at sea.

Because it should not be otherwise!

The people here are doing what they should at the resort: they go to the beach, lie by the pool, do nothing. As I also want to learn someday to mess around and completely turn off. We have already set ourselves a plan for 2018 - to learn how to relax on vacation. At that time, I even managed to fly from Cyprus to Germany just a day, and just as quickly return.

An interesting pattern: vacationers smoothly flow from the pool to the beach and back, move in small groups, but one thing is always taken: an empty pool - crowds in the sea and vice versa. If you go against the system, even at the peak of the tourist season you can relax without a crowd. Sorry, this does not apply to the rooms themselves.

What else but the sea? Boat trips, discos and restaurants on the beach, walks under the moonlight along the promenade ... for everything else there is a car and a huge, interesting island of Cyprus!

The audience at the hotel was decent. No tagil. In general, I have not seen Russian speakers here, only the British. They love Cyprus and, too, they say they are naughty, but we came across exceptionally well-mannered holiday-makers. Vrissaki is a cool hotel in Protaras, and for fans of Ayia Napa there is also a similar Atlantica Tropical Blue 4 *.

What can I say about holidays in Cyprus? Of the pluses are reasonable prices, a country close in culture (for those who do not like the "oriental flavor" of Egypt with Turkey), excellent beaches, neat hotels, and distances.

There are also disadvantages, and they are the same for any tourist place on the island, they just have it so. Paid internet, paid water and paid refrigerator. All this is considered additional services and is not included in the price of a room or dinner. And for breakfast or lunch (with full or half board) you can pour water, soda, coffee or order freshly squeezed juice for free, and for dinner you have to pay even for ordinary water. With the Internet, it’s clear that almost everywhere in the resorts, it’s free in the lobby, and the room is paid separately. Well, the refrigerator in the lock is a purely Cypriot "trick." In reality, you cannot even cool your water bought in a store unless you rent a refrigerator key for a couple of euros per day. Enrages, but what to do, everywhere there are "national characteristics." We will consider them a flavor.

Well, the most important thing to consider when buying a ticket to the sea - do it in advance. Although what I am telling you, you yourself, probably, are doing it this way, and do not catch on like myself at the last second?
